Family Practice                                                                                                                                  

The specialty of family medicine is centered on lasting, caring relationships with patients and their families. Family physicians really know their patients, they listen to them and take time with them, and help them make the right health care decisions. Family physicians are highly trained in the most up-to-date treatments and technologies. But family physicians know that patients want more than medical diagnosis---they want the comprehensive, personalized care that a family physician offers.

Family physicians treat your whole health. They specialize in caring for the physical, mental and emotional well-being of their patients and their families. They know how your family's health history and situation can affect your health. And they are trained to care for you through all the stages of your life.

The radiologists, Charles Whang, MD and Karen Cortellino,MD utilize X-Rays,  Total Body CT scans, ultrasound, M.R.I., Mammography, and various other methods of body imaging for the diagnosis of injury and disease.

Radiology Services Include:

MRI:Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a form of diagnostic imaging for diagnosis of a variety of health problems. MRI uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to produce computer processed images to your inner body without the use of ionizing radiation.


CAT Scan:
                                                                                                                             
A special radiographic technique that uses a computer to assimilate multiple X-Ray images into a 2 dimentional cross -sectional image.

Ultrasound:

A type of imaging technique, which uses high-frequency sound waves.



Breast Imaging Services:                                                                                                                             
The HMH Breast Imaging Suite provides women with a private, friendly, comfortable environment for Mammography and Breast Ultrasound Testing. We have a female staff specially trained in women's issues. Karen Cortellino, M.D., will review the study results with the patient on the same day of testing, and the patient will leave with a copy of
their results.

Bone Densitometry:
Bone Densitometry involves an extremely small dose of radiation that measures your bone mineral density (BMD). It will compare your measurements to a reference population based on your age, weight, sex, and ethnic background. The physicians will us this information in making a diagnosis about your bone status and fracture risk.

Echocardiogram:
A test that uses high-frequency sound waves to image the heart and surrounding tissues.

X-RayThis is a common form of imaging used in clinical practice. The image of desired area is captured on photographic film.

 

Sports Medicine: As a field of medicine, "sports medicine: is technically considered a subspecialty.  Physicians within this field have had previous training in a more general field of medicine prior to additional training in sports medicine.  Sports Medicine specialists are physicians who evaluate and treat musculoskeletal disorders, such as painful or injured joints and muscles, and over-use injuries (tendonitis, stress fractures).  They also treat non-musculoskeletal aspects of sports medicine, for example concussions and other head injuries; athletes with chronic and acute illness; nutrition, supplements, ergogenic aids and performance issues; exercise prescription; injury prevention and healthy lifestyle promotion.

Physical Therapy :  The new HMH state-of-the-art facility is staffed by highly qualified physical therapists who are trained in the restoration, maintenance, and promotion of optimal physical function.  Physical Therapists diagnose and manage movement dysfunction and enhance physical and functional abilities.  They restore, maintain, and promote not only optimal physical function but optimal wellness and fitness and optimal quality of life as it relates to movement and health.

Treatment is relatively quick and removes unwanted body hair without damaging the surrounding skin.Laser Hair Removal is performed by our physicians and physician assistants.
